Tuesday, October 14, 2014 – On Saturday, approximately 2,100 businesses and 5,000 residents were left in the dark after a power outage occurred due to an underground electrical fire. According to an Enmax official, power should be restored to the entire impacted area on Thursday, October 16th, 2014; however, approximately 10,000 employees can expect significant interruption to their regular routines until then.
When it comes to the impacted areas – a 17-block zone between 4th Avenue S.W. to 7th Avenue S.W and 4th Street to 11th Street S.W – businesses are encouraged to make plans for their employees to work from home or another off-site location. Unfortunately, if those businesses don’t have a solid business continuity plan in place, that’s going to be fairly difficult to do.
