Security is a top priority. Google is working on making the web a more secure place by starting with more secure web connections. With industry-leading security, they called for “HTTPS everywhere”. Now is the time to add that extra “S” if you want your company’s site to stay relevant.
To make the process of adapting HTTPS a little easier, Google has set-up some helpful tips:
Ensure your company’s web page does not include insecure dependencies in its images, embeds, and videos. For now, Google is using a “light-weight signal” which gives only 25% of the top search results to web pages using HTTPS; this gives more time to those who haven’t yet made the secure switch. Eventually, this percentage will only get higher and your site should be part of it.
Security is of great importance to your company’s website, right from the main page to receiving personal information from your clients, you’ll want to use highly encrypted connections and keep your reputation a trustworthy one.
